Building Cities in parallel to Future

SDG 11, "Sustainable Cities and Communities," aims to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable. As urbanization continues to accelerate, it's imperative to create cities that meet the needs of their residents while minimizing their environmental impact.   

Key challenges facing cities:

  • Urban sprawl: Unplanned and inefficient development leading to traffic congestion and pollution.
  • Housing affordability: Rising housing costs making it difficult for low-income residents to find affordable housing.
  • Infrastructure: Inadequate infrastructure, such as transportation, water, and sanitation, affecting quality of life.
  • Climate change: Increasing vulnerability to extreme weather events and rising sea levels.

Strategies for sustainable cities:

  • Urban planning: Promoting compact, walkable cities with mixed-use development.
  • Affordable housing: Implementing policies to increase the availability of affordable housing.
  • Public transportation: Investing in efficient and accessible public transportation systems.
  • Renewable energy: Encouraging the use of renewable energy sources to reduce carbon emissions.
  • Green infrastructure: Incorporating green spaces, parks, and urban gardens to improve air quality and biodiversity.

By adopting sustainable urban development practices, we can create cities that are resilient, equitable, and environmentally friendly, ensuring a better future for generations to come.

VAR in Football - Horror for some, Justice to others!

As Football is evolving into a more technical sport, VAR (Video Assistant Referee) doesn't come as a huge surprise after controversial decisions by on field referees in the past at some of the biggest occasions. What is VAR? VAR or Video Assistant Referee is a technology-assisted officiating system that helps on-field referees in football matches. How VAR works? VARs have independent match footage access which is integrated into broadcast set-up. The VAR official along with Assistant VAR, Offside VAR and Support VAR tracks the players and the ball at 50 times/sec with the Spider cams and cams around the field.
